OUR LAND, OUR HERITAGE,

OUR COMMITMENT

Centuries ago on sun drenched volcanic mountain slopes King Kamehameha constructed his personal royal fields on land that is today Kona Gold Coffee Plantation. Company archaeologists are carefully protecting the great king's legacy on historical sites throughout our property. Exotic wildlife and lush rain forest vegetation flourish in our carefully planned natural habitats. We have set aside hundreds of acres to conserve the ecological and historical heritage of this extraordinary paradise. Be assured that everyone involved in the plantation is passionately committed to the principles of preserving the fertile soils and crystalline waters for future generations through sustainable agriculture practices.

Rainforest Alliance Certified

Kona Gold Coffee Plantation has a mission to grow quality coffee under an agro-forestry system, with a high level of biodiversity while ensuring the conservation of natural resources through good agricultural practices. We are dedicated to providing a professional and safe working environment that is focused on the welfare of all our employees.

We believe sustainable coffee can help create a more sustainable world.   Gold Coffee Company chosen to partner with the Rainforest Alliance, the most comprehensive conservation certification program. We want to preserve the vital resources of the planet while at the same time take care of our farm workers, their families and our communities.

Gold Coffee Company has also been certified through the rigorous sustainable coffee guidelines of the Starbucks CAFE (Coffee And Farm Equity) Practices.  Starbucks has its own comprehensive set of measurable standards for its green coffee sourcing developed in partnership with Conservation International and an independent third-party company, Scientific Certification Systems (SCS) to encompass standards in four categories: product quality, economic accountability as well as social responsibility and environmental leadership.

Compared to other highly-regarded certifications, CAFE Practices differs by evaluating not only the ecological and sustainability practices which impact the environment but encompasses the ethical and social responsiblity to its agricultural workers. Farmers must demonstrate that they are protecting the rights of their workers by ensuring fair and non-discriminatory hiring and employment policies as well as safe and humane working and living conditions. Gold Coffee Plantation has been certified to meet all of Starbucks' ethical sourcing guidelines of coffee farmers who are actively striving to improve the quality of life of those who work their land.  Each year, millions of coffee workers around the world have positively been impacted by farmers upholding these standards. Our plantation is part of the planned goal of 100% Starbucks Coffee ethically sourced by 2015.  To learn more about Starbucks CAFE Practices, visit www.starbucks.com/responsibility/sourcing/coffee.
